Our topic this term was ‘Growing’ and we have enjoyed growing our own sunflowers, beans and nasturtiums!
This term, we had some fluffy friends in class! We were given eggs by Farmer Nick to keep in an incubator for 21 days. After 3 weeks, they hatched and became part of our class. We have enjoyed looking after them and naming them- we had a variety of names for the chicks thought of by each class! Sadly they have been returned to Farmer Nick where they will be living on his farm- we will miss them!
During Science Week and Engineering week we had lots of fantastic workshops! With Kole, we learnt about how wind propagation disperses seeds. To show us this, she used a balloon that was filled with confetti, when it popped we could see how the confetti (which represented the seeds) travelled far and in all directions. We found it very exciting and made our own paper windmills to represents seeds being dispersed!
The beginning of the Spring term has been great and we look forward to next term when our topic will be Birds. We will be visiting Slimbridge on Wednesday 25th April and will have a visit from ‘Wild Owl’ on Monday 30th April who will be bringing in a tawny owl!
