This term we have worked incredibly hard in year 2 and made our teachers really proud! Our topic this term has been nocturnal animals. We started our topic with a visit to Bristol Zoo. We had lots of fun and all the animals came to say hello! We learned lots of facts about nocturnal animals during our workshop and were lucky enough to feel and even hold some nocturnal animals. We were very brave and held a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach and stroked the back of a rat and a snake.
Mrs Kamester brought in her hamster for us to look after and we had to make sure it was fed, watered and healthy. We thought about the different ways to look after a hamster and wrote ‘how to’ guides for others who might be thinking of having a hamster as a pet.
We also had a look at the night vision cameras that were set up by Greta’s (Lilly Class’) dad. We were amazed to see foxes, badgers and tiny mice sneaking around the school at night! We pretended we were David Attenborough and wrote some detailed descriptions of the night-time happenings at our school.
Year 2 are now nocturnal animal experts because we learned so many facts about them!
