This term, we have explored the content of Africa! In literacy, we learnt a traditional tale and performed it to reception. We then pretended we were explorers who had discovered new African countries and wrote about them in amazing information texts. Later in the term, we learnt about persuasive writing and used our newly acquired skills to persuade Mrs Allen to let us have a bake sale to raise money for Wateraid. Finally, we entered the BBC’s 500 word competition with some fantastic stories about African animals.
In maths, we have become fraction stars! We applied our knowledge of our times table to solve non-unit and unit fractions of amounts questions. We worked hard to apply this knowledge in different contexts like measurement.
This term, we were very lucky to have parents come in to talk to us about their lives growing up on the continent of Africa, palaeontologist from the University of Bristol who came to talk to us about the biggest dinosaur ever discovered and we also had some brilliant African drumming lessons.
Well done for all your hard work children.
