School Closure: Home Learning YEAR 2
Welcome Year 2!
Welcome to your home learning page Year 2! On this page, you will find everything you need to learn at home. We understand this is an unusual time, but we hope that these activities will be an exciting way to continue your fantastic learning! We will be posting updates and a message to you all each Monday and Friday. We will make sure that each activity is fun, interesting and something that you can do at home. There will be various challenges so please choose what is right for you that day. The most important thing is that you give it a go; we will be so proud of all your efforts and independent learning! Year 2 ROCK!
At the beginning of the week we will upload new tasks for each day. These will be:
- One daily English activity
- One daily Maths activity
- One daily Reading activity
- One daily fun challenge activity! This could be something creative or that involves movement.
Complete each activity on that day. In addition to this, it is important that you keep up your daily reading (visit the Oxford Owl website for good quality reads).
Remember you also have your Project Book! This is where you can explore any subject that interests you. I remember some of you saying that you wanted to find out more about lions, space and Africa. These are all great topic subjects and you could draw pictures, find out amazing facts or create junk models related to your topic.
- Each activity should take around 20 minutes.
- Complete the activities in your home learning books.
- Take your time with the activities and complete them to the best of your ability.
- If you need extra activities, look at your website list and complete online activities.
We hope you enjoy the activities and we cannot wait to see what you produce.
Mrs Tucker, Mrs Thomas, Mrs Yousuf, Mrs Tovey and Mr Arnold
Week 2 Home Learning - Monday 30th March
Happy Monday everyone. We hope you had a lovely weekend.
Remember your teachers are always thinking about you and we hope you are all happy!
Below you’ll find another fun filled week of learning. Don’t forget to do your spellings and keep active! Have you tried P.E with Joe Wicks? Mr Arnold was considering doing his own videos but his legs are too tired after doing Joe’s. Maybe after Easter???
Have a fantastic week and keep that brain working hard!
WEEKLY OVERVIEW AND HOME LEARNING EXPLANATIONS
Week 2 Home Learning
Monday 30th - Friday 3rd April March
This week we'd like you to have a go at cooking! You can make anything at all but make sure you are the one doing all of the measuring and the one watching the clock so your creation is cooked perfectly! While you’re there can you solve this little riddle? What weighs more 100g of sugar or 100g of butter?
In English this week you are going to use all of your amazing knowledge to create your very own pirate story. Enjoy creating your main character and the setting, then create a wonderful adventure for all of your family to enjoy. There is a reading activity for you to do every day with questions for you to answer.
You are going to be practicing measurement and telling the time. Remember to use the help boxes on the worksheets to remind you of the methods you can use.
We hope you have a great week. Enjoy eating whatever you cook.

Monday 23rd - Friday 27th March
This week we'd like you to have a go at building a pirate ship out of junk that you can find at home - just like you did when you made the moon buggies. Your challenge is to make sure that the ship can float on water! Think about what we have been in learning in science about materials that will float. Is it waterproof? Is it light or does it contain pockets of air?
In English this week you are going to use fun pictures from a book called Captain Abdul's Pirate School to help you with your writing. You can practise using conjunctions and writing speech with exciting speech verbs and adverbs. There is a reading activity for you to do every day with questions for you to answer.
You are going to be practising addition and subtraction in maths. Remember to use the help boxes on the worksheets to remind you of the methods you can use.
We hope you have a great week. Enjoy building your junk model ship!
