Term 2
This term we will be learning all about ‘Transport’. We will look at different types of transport and hopefully go to see the Teachers cars. We are looking forward to bringing our own bikes and scooters into school for our ‘Wheelie Great Day!’ We will hopefully get a visit from some emergency vehicles as well. We will label some transport and read a story about a ‘Naughty bus’ who gets up to mischief and makes up our stories.
In maths we will continue to look at numbers to 10 and understand how to order these. We will compare numbers and think about more and less. We also start to look at 2D shapes and make some shape pictures.
We will think about keeping safe on the roads and go on a road safety walk around the school environment. We will than draw a map of our walk.
We will also be looking forward to Christmas and performing our nativity.

Term 1
Welcome to Whitehall Primary School and the Reception page.
What a busy 1st term the reception children have had!
They settled in really quickly and have enjoyed exploring their new environment.
The children have played together so nicely and made the most amazing dens, train tracks and animal houses.
We have been looking at families and they have loved talking about their own families and drew some great pictures. We have been learning about keeping our bodies healthy! We have done lots of exercise, looked at the skeleton and practised brushing some enormous teeth!
In maths we have explored numbers to 5 and looked at size and patterns. We have explored making our own patterns using a range of things.
The children have loved the outside area, being really physical on the obstacle course, enjoying the den building and getting muddy in the mud kitchen making some great mud pies!
As part of ‘Black History Month’ we have thought about the theme this year of ‘Pride and power’. We have talked about what makes us unique and what we are proud of. We have made a picture of ourselves and drawn our favourite things and used our favourite colours. We have also made a crown that we wore in our own ‘pride parade!’
The children are really settled in school and excited by all of the learning we are doing!
Look at the newsletter below for more information and some lovely pictures of our learning.
